12 Monkeys premiered this week with the “Pilot” written by series creators Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett and directed by Jeffrey Reiner. Outside of the narrative itself, 12 Monkeys is a triumph of sci-fi and any Blu-Ray collection will be enriched by owning the complete series.Currently, the series is exclusively available on Hulu for streaming, but owning a physical copy truly makes the series yours. The final episode of 12 Monkeys, an epic 2-hour final battle, gives us the closure every TV show strives to achieve in its final moments. Proceed with caution!

De serie haalt nergens het niveau van de film maar ze zijn er in geslaagd om een prima tijdreis-sciencefiction serie neer te zetten die niet verveeld. 12 Monkeys Season 2 Episode 11 proved to be another strong episode. The scene where old Jennifer meets her younger self is already one of the highlights of the entire series. The idea of a pandemic that wipes us all out is definitely realistic enough to give this Syfy series a creepy chill. En ze vallen nergens in de valkuil waar de meeste series wel invallen als het om tijdreizen gaat.
It's easy to picture an unhinged somebody (or an army of somebodies) hell-bent enough on some esoteric goal to unleash destruction, and 12 Monkeys plays it smart by making the Army of 12 Monkeys' motives a mystical puzzle that Cole and Cassandra must unravel piece by piece.

Fickett and Matalas also worked together on Nikita and Terra Nova.The series is loosely based on the 1995 movie of the same name by Terry Gilliam, starring Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis, and the movie was based on Chris Marker’s 1962 short film La Jetee.
